So far, we have discussed some of the benefits of routine coping techniques such as a sleep schedule, exercise routine, and eating. But today we will take a look at the benefits of following a routine everyday for the sake of stability and sanity.

Establishing a daily routine, especially for children, is one of the best treatments for anxiety. During the height of the Covid 19 pandemic many children and teens struggled with anxiety because their lives and routines were completely disrupted.

Daily routine also brings emotional stability. Children are happier when they know what to expect each day. Following the same routine each day, and knowing what to expect, especially from parents, teachers, and other adults, adds stability and peace to the life of any child.

As a mother, I tried my best to keep my children on a routine when they were young. Now that they are young adults, its up to them to apply what they’ve learned. For me personally, I suppose one could say I’m a “routine junkie.” I thrive on the routines I make for myself, and I hope you can find these too for yourself and your children.
